Our Front Porch
Our Front Porch

The Area of Focus is the Entry, Front Porch, and Dining Room—(June 22nd  to June 28th).

The Family Bath would be the 29th and 30th but that is Saturday and Sunday. You can either do a little each day this week in your bathroom(s) or reserve time on Saturday for a thorough cleaning. Frankly, I would rather do a little each day and have the weekend free but you know what works for you.

Make it a goal to spend 15 to 30 minutes each day in these rooms each day.

Monday—My front porch—I plan to sweep it down and make sure it’s fresh and clean. Yesterday, I had Kohl’s cash and a 30% off coupon. I bought new cushions and pillows that were 60% off. I moved the pillows that were newest and freshest to my back deck. The bargains were good enough so I was able to replace the cushions on my back deck, too.

The floral print purchase is a new purchase.
I hope to find some extra time to work on the back deck this week. I am feeling inspired.

Monday is also the day I clean all my toilets and check bathroom supplies—personal, paper, and cleaning. I add anything I am running short of to my shopping list. Please do not wait until you’ve used the last precious bit or you may be making an unplanned trip to the store. Unplanned trips always mean unplanned purchases to me.

Tuesday—My entry—my entry furniture mainly needs a good polishing.  Tuesday is also my Duster Dance Day so that fits right in.  I plan to work in my Dining Room on Wednesday but I will polish my dining room furniture at the same time.

Again, Tuesday—Duster Dance Day—Dust the flat surfaces throughout your home.

Wednesday—my Dining Room—the room has been dusted on Tuesday and will be vacuumed on Friday. I will check the drawers and make sure the room is in order.

Wednesday is also Desk Day—I will make sure bills, personal and family business, and filing are up to date.

Thursday—I will clean the Family Bath and Powder Room. The toilets will already be clean so I will make sure the mirrors, sinks and tub are clean and the cabinets are clean.

Thursday is Floor Day—I will mop the entry, kitchen, and bathroom floors.

Friday—Wrap Up the Week Day

  • Clean out my purse (backpack, diaper bag, computer bag)
  • Clean out my car
  • Vacuum the traffic areas and thoroughly vacuum the dining room and entry.

Don’t forget to keep up with your daily tasks—

  • Make your bed
  • Keep up with the dishes including keeping the counters clean.
  • Do at least one load of laundry a day.

Can you believe it is almost July??!! Next week we will be starting over the Living Room/Family Room.

That’s the charm of this routine—you will always be back next month, next week—so do the best you can and let it go. But as always maintain, maintain, maintain.

It may seem like a lot of work but most tasks take only minutes. As your routines become routine you will find them faster and easier. Quit avoiding the work, dig in, and get it done.

Hugs,

Mary
