Wednesday is Desk Day–Pay Bills, Bring All Your Personal and Family Business Up to Date, and File

Each Wednesday is Desk Day—pay your bills, take care of family business (calls, notes, emails) and file.
I used to struggle with balancing my checkbook. I have now used Quicken for years and download transactions and balance my accounts daily. I can then act on any irregularities quickly.
The Area of Focus for the Week is Your Bedroom, En Suite Bath, and Closet. Everything in your closet should fit, be clean and ready to wear. If it needs mending or cannot be worn today, it is giving you a false sense of what you have to wear so clean it, fix it, lose or gain the weight or get rid of it. Your closet is also not your archive for clothes that have become mementos like your high school prom dress, cheerleading uniform, bridesmaid dresses you will never wear for any other occasion or maternity clothes when you are almost positive you are not going to have more children. Men joke about women opening a full closet’s door and saying we have nothing to wear. If that is true of you, get rid of the stuff filling the space and begin to build a wardrobe of clothes that work and fit. It does not have to cost much money—arrange some clothing swaps with friends, visit and carefully shop consignment and thrift shops and routinely check the clearance racks at your favorite stores. I get my favorite dresses and suits for a small portion of the price tag at my favorite outlets in Williamsburg. Use some of your ingenuity and creativity in dressing appropriately and well.
Each day this week while I am spending time with over 800 children and adults at The Heights Vacation Bible School I am sharing cleaning checklists for each area of your home. I suggest you copy and paste each list, put it in a plastic sleeve and add it to your planning notebook. When I first made my first lists back in the late 70’s-early 80’s I made a 3 x 5 card for each room/area of my home with the tasks and frequency for each area. I put the cards on the back of the door of each room. It was there for me or whoever was delegated to clean the room to refer to.
