  • Have an idea where you are going each day—Plan A—and then be open to Plans B-ZZ.
  • Work smarter, not harder.
  • Get what needs to be done first.
  • Work as you go. Don’t pass over trash, and things that need to be put where they belong.
  • Have trash receptacles (aka waste baskets) available throughout your home and empty them regularly
    • (Great job for a little one, work with them for a couple of weeks and then set them free. )Do not be so critical of the work others do that they give up and refuse to help. Teach increasing skill.
    • Tell them,  “You are doing better and better. You are becoming a person of excellence.”
    • Get dressed and put on shoes. Be ready for the day. Declare a pajama day occasionally but 95% of the time get up and get moving.
    • In all of life including our eating plan we tend to want to indulge, indulge, indulge, and occasionally exercise self-control. Turn that around. Exercise self-control, exercise self-control, exercise self-control, and occasionally indulge. This includes caring for your home and family.
    • Work can be fun. You do well what you enjoy and enjoy what you do well. Learn to do the tasks you dislike well, do them with excellence, make it a game, and you might find yourself enjoying your work by accident.
    • I now enjoy my work. I know this was not always true. I don’t know when it changed but one day I realized I was no longer miserable and less often frustrated.
    • Frustrations are one of my sacrifice to my Lord. I have resolved to try to meet them with graciousness.  We tend to ask God for patience and then nothing to challenge it.
    • Reframe. I do not have problems, I have challenges. I have opportunities to learn.
    • You are either a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Do not automatically think that something will not work for you. Try it. Tweak it. Give it a chance.

Unpacking My Suitcase: Revealing the Treasure

IMG_0351The first thing I need to realize, that you need to realize is that this is the fruit of God’s Spirit. I  do not white knuckle it, work it up, fake it till I make it, or am any of these qualities apart from my precious Jesus, and the Spirit that indwells me. As I give place to His rulership in me, He will be seen.

What do you get when you squeeze a sponge? Whatever is in it come out. What comes out when you get squeezed? Whatever is in you; whatever you have allowed to consume the space within you. When I get squeezed, I want Jesus to flow from me and not anger, bitterness, rage, strife, impatience, and other ugliness.

Consider each quality.  Are you allowing God’s Spirit to reign in your life? In each situation in your life? In each relationship in your life?

 Hugs,
