Some food choices lead to degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular diseases (diseases of the heart and circulatory system) diabetes, and arthritis and make you overweight. They also make you more prone to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and, frankly, make you tired.
Other foods help your body arm itself against cancer, heart disease, degenerative diseases, and obesity. They also  give you more energy, and help you be more mentally and physically alert
At this moment the shelves in your pantry, refrigerator and freezer are filled with foods that lead to life or death. The foods that lead to life are mixed in with the foods that lead to death.
We want to identify the live foods and purge our kitchens and bodies of the dead foods.
Some foods like coffee and dark chocolate are healthier than we thought. Some foods we thought were healthy like margarine are harmful to our health.
After 10 years much medical information turns out to be false. Don Colbert, author of The Seven Pillars of Health, says the problem is we don’t know which information will turn out to be false.

There is one timeless principle concerning food: Living food like fruits, vegetables and whole wheats will always be healthier for you than processed foods.

Living foods are divinely packaged in skins and peels. They are not bleached, refined, or chemically enhanced.  They are harvested not processed. Living foods are recognizable as food.

Dead foods have been changed in every way imaginable to make them last longer and make you want to eat them.  They have large amounts of sugars and processed fats.  Oils heated to high temperature kill nutrients.

Life breeds life. Death breeds death.  Don Colbert says that “When you eat living foods the enzymes  in their pristine state interact with your digestive enzymes. The other natural ingredients God put in them–vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants, fibers, and more–flow into your system in their natural state. These living foods were created to cause your digestive system, bloodstream, and organs to function at optimum capacity.”

The chemicals in dead foods including preservatives, food additives, and bleaching agents, place a strain on the liver. Poisonous man-made fats begin to form in your cell membranes; they become stored as fat in your body and form plaque in your arteries. Your body has difficulty drawing the traces of good food from the deadly food but we end up overweight and undernourished.

If you want to be a healthy, energetic  person instead of a person who lives at all, you can eat buffets and???????????????????????????????????? feasts at fast food restaurants, or take your diet seriously. Make the change to living food. The sooner you do, the sooner you will begin to reap the results of a good diet in improved health.

The information is drawn from personal knowledge and from Don Colbert, M.D.’s books.  I highly recommend anything by him.
